AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY OF BOONEVILLE, MISSISSIPPI, TO ESTABLISH A PROGRAM FOR THE COLLECTION OF VOLUNTARY DONATIONS TO PROJECT HOMESTEAD OF BOONEVILLE, MISSISSIPPI, THROUGH THE CITY'S MUNICIPAL UTILITY BILLING SYSTEM; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The governing authorities of the City of Booneville, Mississippi, in their discretion, by resolution duly adopted and entered on the minutes of the governing authorities, may establish a program within the administration of the municipal utility billing system for the collection of voluntary donations to assist indigent persons within the City of Booneville. Under the program, the City of Booneville may accept donations to Project Homestead of Booneville, Mississippi, with the payment of municipal utility bills from customers of the city's municipal utilities. Any funds collected by the city through the program shall be accounted for and transmitted to Project Homestead of Booneville, Mississippi, in accordance with such procedures set forth in the resolution establishing the program. The City of Booneville may print messages on municipal utility bills to explain the voluntary donation program.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
